This Jarrah benchtop was in a damaged and cupped state when I had a client (who has since become a close friend) reach out and ask for help. He is joint owner of my local cafe, The Heysen Kitchen Cafe.

After removing the old finish I got to work allow the wood to acclimatise and reversed the cupping. I then added Breadboards to opposing ends to assist in preventing cupping in the future. Once construction and repairing any chip outs I began to sand through the grits and prepping the surface for finish.

It was finished with varnish and then coated with multiple layers of protective ceramic finish. I can’t wait to see it in the kitchen as a finished product. I also owe a huge thank you to The Heysen Kitchen Cafe who current have a few of my pieces on display and continue to support me.
